Transitions

Webelos to Scouts BSA

Join a Scout Troop

A Webelos Scout who has earned the Arrow of Light (or who is 11 years old, or who has completed the fifth grade) may join a Scout troop.

If you need to find a new troop, go to https://www.beascout.org/

A youth should visit the troop at least once before joining.

New Scouts need to complete a BSA Youth Application and Health Record (which can be given to the Scoutmaster of the troop).

Parents and Scouts should review the requirements for Scout Rank, including the pamphlet “How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide” (which can be found in the Scouts BSA Handbook).

It’s common for Webelos to transition to a Scout troop at the end of their school year. One of the first activities that summer will be participating in a week’s worth of camping at Scout Camp.

Scouts BSA to Venturing

Join a Venture Crew
Venturing is an inclusive program through the Boy Scouts of America for males and females aged 14-20 (or 13 and completed the 8th grade). It’s operated through Venturing Crews, units of youth and advisors that meet on set schedules and plan activities and events.

If you need to find a crew in your area, visit https://beascout.scouting.org/

New Venturers need to complete a BSA Youth Application and Health Record (which can be given to the Scoutmaster of the troop).

Can Venturers earn Eagle Scout rank?
After transitioning from Scouts BSA into Venturing, a Venturer may continue to work on their goal to complete Eagle Scout rank, but only if they earned at least First Class rank while in their Scout troop.

Can a youth over 18 join a Venture Crew?
Yes. Venture Crews go from ages 14-20.
