An Update on COVID-19′ Impact to Grand Canyon Council

An Update on COVID-19' Impact to Grand Canyon Council

Scouters,

As you know, last week our council announced several changes to our operations based on recommendations from public health officials:

  • All council and district activities scheduled to occur through May 31st have been rescheduled or cancelled.
  • All district and council meetings have been shifted to Zoom videoconference.  There will be no in-person meetings through May 31st.
  • All unit reservations of GCC camps through May 31st have been rescheduled or cancelled.
  • No in-person unit meetings or activities until approved by their charter organization.
  • Scout Shops (Phoenix and Mesa) – closed and unstaffed through March 27th April 10th.
  • Scout Service Center – closed but staffed through March 27th April 10th.

Based on recent announcements by Governor Ducey and Superintendent of Public Instruction Hoffman, we will extend our Service Center and Scout Shop closures by two more weeks, through Friday, April 10th.

Our staff continues to available via telephone and email to meet your needs.  Scout Shops (both Phoenix and Mesa) are closed and unstaffed for the time being but supply items can be purchased at www.ScoutShop.org.  Units with a specific Scout Shop need during this time can email Dennis Pawlewicz (dennis.pawlewicz@scouting.org).

For the time being we are planning to offer our full menu of summer programs but will communicate immediately if anything changes.

We will continue monitoring www.cdc.gov and www.azdhs.gov for national and state guidance as this situation continues to evolve.

Please do your best to remain safe, clean, and healthy.

Thanks.

Andy Price

Scout Executive/CEO
