FOS VIDEOS Hi Four Peaks District, As requested, here is some wonderful information and online VIDEOS regarding Friends of Scouting in general. As our volunteer Friends of Scouting (FOS) teams have been visiting units, there seems to be many questions about what Friends of Scouting is. These questions have been very valid and solid. There have been questions such as: What does FOS pay for? How does FOS help the kids and the program they experience? How does FOS matter in our home scouting units? Why does every Pack, Troop, Team, and Crew in America participate and help fund scouting through FOS? Etc… The list of questions goes on and on. I really regret that this type of information hasn’t been more easily available to scouting units in the Four Peaks District in the past. We’ve been very impressed to have seen a tremendous volunteer mobilization and effort that is helping keep scouting relevant in our community. These videos are from other councils. None of this information is specific to the Grand Canyon Council, your council, but this information gets the general idea across about what Friends of Scouting is and details out the money end of it. Our course all these numbers vary from council to council, but in general, where money comes from, where money goes, and why money is needed is all the same from council to council across the United States. If you enjoy the scouting program, please take a few minutes to learn more about this critical part of scouting. Without friends of Scouting, we would loose scouting in our country over time, and in many areas, it has already happened. There is a very great need for better support of the Friends of Scouting program. Again, these are videos other councils have done to help illustrate the FOS program.
