| Thank you helping us get Friends of Scouting rolled out this year. Please go ahead now and fill out the rest of this form below. REMEMBER, every unit in America participates in Friends of Scouting (FOS) each year. PARTICIPATING in Friends of Scouting ALSO completes one of the requirements for your unit regarding the BADEN POWELL QUALITY UNIT AWARD. :) |
| There are two different ways a unit may participate in Friends of Scouting each year. They may choose "Beginner Unit" or "Advanced Unit". "Beginner Unit" is for most units. "Advanced" is for units who have been approached by the district FOS team to participate in and advanced Unit FOS Campaign. If your unit did "Advanced" last year, you will be advanced from that time forward. |

| BEGINNER:
A trained district Friends of Scouting presenter will contact you 2-20 days before the date of your FOS presentation. When you are contacted, your presenter will introduce themself and request for 10-15 minutes of your meeting and will ask to be FIRST on your agenda for the evening. Please allow him or her to be FIRST on your agenda. Please ask your presenter to email you a two paragraph scouting biography of them so you may properly present them to your audience right before their presentation. Your presenter will bring with them FOS pamphlets for the current year and a big envelope. Your presenter will give a 5-10 minute FOS presentation, then will conclude by explaining how the pamphlets work, and finally will hand out the pamphlets and give people 5 minutes to fill out their pamphlet and give them back. (You may want to arrange for scouts to help pass out and gather the pamphlets and pens) After all the filled out pamphlets are collected, your presenter will turn the time back over to you and may need to leave. You may want to invite your presenter to add up the total and give you the total amount your unit gave to Friends of Scouting that night before he or she leaves. This way you can announce it to your unit before the end of the evening. FOS gifts should be given that night and be sent home with your presenter. Individuals can give that evening with cash, check, credit card, or pledge an amount. Cash and checks should be turned in that night with the filled out pamphlet. Families should plan on and be encouraged to give at least the minimum “fair share” level indicated in the pamphlets. Pledges will be invoiced to the person pledging, and can be broken up into monthly invoices. All pledges should be fully paid no later than Aug. After your presenter leaves, you are finished with FOS for year. If individuals missed the presentation, please have them turn in a filled out gift pamphlet to you, and you in turn will contact your presenter or district executive right away to arrange to get that gift to them. You should ask your presenter to leave you with a few extra pamphlets for such a case. |

| ADVANCED: 1) Allow the FOS team to come to a committee meeting to train your committee on how to conduct an advanced FOS campaign. 2) Identify your FOS goal. (should be based on the fare share times the number of families in your unit). 3) Conduct your campaign, speak with every family. 4) Ensure you achieve your goal 5) Turn in all collected donations by end of March. |
